With today’s vast array of modern, technical bicycles its is quite difficult to break down pricing for all the different service and repair tasks that could potentially be carried out on your bicycle.

I now price work mostly based on time spent and will do my best to estimate cost as close I can once I have assessed your bicycles needs. Often I’ll need to have the bike briefly so I can asses the scope of work before carrying out any work and will notify you beforehand where possible, or at least give you a general idea of pricing.

All my work is plus the cost of parts if I source and supply. I am happy to fit parts supplied to me by the customer and am always happy to advise.

Repairs Rates

Many small tasks/repairs will be between £10-£35. As examples, A single, simple, cable change/set up may be £15 plus cost of parts, whereas a single internally routed cable may be closer to £20-£25 depending on complexity. A puncture repair or tube change around £10-£15 plus cost of a tube if required, and fitting and basic setting up some brake pads usually around £10 per brake.

Service Levels

I often get asked to do a service and to keep it simple I always start with a basic M check service (cleaning bikes carries a seperate charge). Beyond this basic service I’ll need to assess and quote after I have carried out the M check service.

Basic level Bike ‘M’ check and assessment £25 – no cleaning.

This is the base level service. I will carry out an ‘M’check and make small adjusts if that’s all the bike needs, (this would be small tasks like tightening essential bolts, pumping tyres up, lubing transmission) mostly to get you going again quickly, and give it a through look over to determine an estimate on further servicing work. * please see footnote

Quick clean £15

Post ride, no degreasing required or before working on bike if just a bit too dirty. Will lube moving parts.

Clean bike and Transmission Degrease only from £25

The cost of this will depend on the state of the bike. £25 is minimum. No parts are removed in this cleaning service apart from the wheels. Everything is cleaned throughly in-situ. Please see dedicated transmission deep clean for transmission strip/rebuild/reindex and cleaning

Full strip and rebuild service

I also offer a full strip down, deep clean of all components and a rebuild for £150. (Plus any new parts) There are certain tasks not included in this on some bikes, but I’d advise when asked to do a full strip down service. Most bikes though are easily covered in this charge. I’ll bleed brakes in this service but it doesn’t include servicing suspension shox, e-bike electric components and motors or complicated internal hub gear systems for example.

• * PLEASE NOTE: Bikes that are deemed not worth it must be collected. I do not take bikes to the tip and I don’t have the space to store worn out bikes. If I do have them left after agreeing to work and not collecting or being non communicative, the bike could be moved on after a few months. I hold the right to deal with these bikes as I please if bikes are left with me for an extensive period of time beyond the first few months, unless arranged with me prior to any work being carried out.
